About me
My name is Rosie Stokes, and I have been a qualified teacher for over 20 years. I have had the pleasure of working with children of many different ages in a variety of schools across Essex and Southend.
Currently, I work in a large primary school as a SENDCo after completing my National Award in Special Educational Needs Co-ordination. I have the privilege of teaching children in our alternative provision base alongside working with families to access the support and guidance they need for their children.
I have a personal interest in Dyslexia with many of my family members having received a diagnosis at varying points in their school, university and work life career and have first-hand experience of seeing the difference this has made to their lives.
I am a fully qualified dyslexia specialist with the expertise to carry out full diagnostic dyslexia assessments for children and young adults aged 7 to 17 years.
My qualifications
✔ AMBDA Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate in Specialist Teaching and Assessment for Dyslexia from Canterbury Christ Church University – this is a gold-standard qualification for providing accurate and detailed dyslexia assessments.
✔ Full Membership of PATOSS (The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties) – this demonstrates my ongoing commitment to best practices and continuous professional development in the field of dyslexia support.
✔ Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) – this certificate, awarded by British Dyslexia Association, confirms that I meet the highest professional standards for assessing dyslexia and providing reports that are recognised by schools, universities, and exam boards.
✔ Enhanced DBS Check – I have an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate, meaning I have undergone the necessary safeguarding checks to work with children and young people. You can learn more about the DBS service here.
